Dean Men Honghua attends the Seminar on National Political Science Discipline Development and Postgraduate Education & the Working Meeting for the Political Science Discipline Appraisal Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee
Hosted by the Political Science Discipline Appraisal Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, the Seminar on National Political Science Discipline Development and Postgraduate Education & the Working Meeting for the Political Science Discipline Appraisal Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Appraisal Group) were held at Nankai University on March 23, 2019. The meeting was attended by seven members of the appraisal group, its secretariat, and the directors of 29 first-level doctoral degree programs in political science in China. Prof. Men Honghua, Dean of our school, was invited to attend the meeting.
The opening ceremony was moderated by Prof. Zhu Guanglei, Vice President of Nankai University. Prof. Li Jing, Vice President of Nankai University, and Prof. Wang Puqu, a convener of the 7th Political Science Discipline Appraisal Group, spoke at the ceremony. After the opening ceremony, Tang Jiwei, Deputy Inspector of the Department of Degree Management & Postgraduate Education (Office of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee), and the Appraisal Group members Prof. Liu Yuan, Prof. Ma Depu, Prof. Huang Jiashu, and Prof. Zhu Guanglei, gave keynote speeches on political science discipline development and postgraduate education.
In the panel discussion in the afternoon, Dean Men introduced the history, direction and characteristics, the goals and models of talent training, and the efforts in scientific research and social services of the political science discipline in Tongji University. At the closing ceremony, Dean Men gave a report on the panel discussion results on behalf of the 10 institutions including Tongji University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Central China Normal University, and Sun Yat-sen University, etc.
Prof. Xu Yong, a convener of the 7th Political Science Discipline Appraisal Group, made a comprehensive summary. Prof. Wang Puqu, a convener of the 7th Political Science Discipline Appraisal Group, gave a concluding speech.
It is learned that this is the first national meeting, hosted by the Appraisal Group, which has brought together the directors of the first-level doctoral degree programs in political science across China. Similar meetings will continue to be held to promote the standardization and sustainability of the political science discipline, conveners said.
