“Me and My Motherland” Theme Party Day

-- Singing Patriotic Songs in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, further enhance Party members' love for the Party and the country, and enrich the form of education campaign on the theme of "staying true to our original aspiration and founding mission", the second Party branch of the faculty of the School of Political Science & International Relations (SPSIR), Tongji University and the Party branch of the Music & Performance Department of the College of Arts & Media (CAM), Tongji University jointly held the "Me and My Motherland" Theme Party Day – Singing Patriotic Songs in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China in classroom 625, the third teaching building of the south campus on October 22, 2019. This event was designed to give the most sincere and best wishes to our motherland with songs. Xu Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of SPSIR, and Zhang Yanli, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Arts & Media, attended the event and sang patriotic songs.

With "Me and My Motherland" patriotic song singing as the main line, this event was provided with the introduction of political background (by the second Party branch of the faculty of SPSIR) and music appreciation (by the Party branch of the Music & Performance Department of CAM) well prepared by faculty Party members of the two Party branches for every patriotic song by making use of their professional expertise, to sing the theme of the great motherland in the great times. The Party members of the two Party branches sang classic patriotic songs including Little White Poplar, Me and My Motherland, Play My Favorite Lute, Edelweiss, My Chinese Heart, My Motherland, I Love You China, and Tomorrow Will Be Better in various singing forms such as solo, chorus and lead singer + chorus. The passionate, gentle, or lyrical song melody floated in the air and won bursts of warm applause from everyone.

At the beginning and end of the event, Secretary Zhang Yanli and Secretary Xu Hong delivered opening and concluding speeches respectively. They required Party members to take the event as an opportunity to go into the patriotic songs, learn the moving stories behind the songs, further unite people, strengthen faith, forge ahead in unity, cultivate noble sentiments, and stimulate patriotism and work enthusiasm. The fellowship event of the faculty Party branches of the two colleges is a good attempt, which can better expand the exchanges among the faculty Party members, enrich the forms of theme Party day events, improve the ideological significance and learning quality of theme education, and enable faculty Party members to devote themselves to teaching and scientific research with a more passionate attitude. The ultimate goal is to ensure effective implementation and fruitful results of the education campaign on the theme of "staying true to our original aspiration and founding mission".
